I started writing a post yesterday, but gave up. Just wasn't feeling in the mood to blog.
Yesterday I felt flat, tired and miserable. I was extremely emotional and DH copped it. Led to a massive yelling match over absolutely nothing. I knew I was being stupid and unreasonable but I could not stop myself! DH ended up leaving the house to get away from me, the super bitch! We kissed and made up when he came home about 2 hours later. Time apart was probably the best idea. It seems even the smallest things push me to my threshold and irritate me to no end.
To add to this, nothing appealed to me to eat. I snacked through out the day just to hold off the nausea but nothing tasted good. As I hadn't had a proper meal all day, I was starving by the time dinner rolled around. I decided pizza was what I wanted, and for the first time for the day I found something that I actually felt like and it tasted good. I even managed a few squares of chocolate.
Today has been a much better day. Despite a late night, terrible nights sleep and an early morning, my hormonal self has managed to control itself and not have a complete melt down. Haven't felt like much to eat, but I prepared a pot roast and put it in the slow cooker for dinner and it smells amazing so I should have a good appetite for that tonight. Been feeling slightly nauseous on and off throughout the day, but once again nothing major. Planning for an early bedtime tonight as I am absolutely knackered. We have a busy weekend ahead of us and will be out both Saturday and Sunday night. So I need to stockpile some energy.
Made my first baby purchase decision the other day. Have been researching MCNs as I would much rather use these than disposable nappies. All a bit confusing as there are so many different styles and designs. I kept coming back to the Itti Bitti page as not only do they look gorgeous, the nappies look simple to use.
The Bitti Tutto is my pick of the Itti Bitti range. They are one size fits most so we should be able to use them from birth-toilet training. Very easy to use so DH can't complain. Come in a range of gorgeous colours and have a lovely soft minkee outer which suckered me right in! Can just imagine a little bum covered in a fluffy nappy! Got some good feedback for these nappies from Bub Hub users also which sealed the deal! So now I have to wait until we find out babys gender so I can order the nappies in some appropriate colours!
DH and I have also started discussing the baby's room and looking online at some furniture to get an idea of what we both like. Also it's been good to get an idea of prices so we can work out a bit of a 'baby budget'. We were going to go have a sticky at one of the local baby shops this morning but once I had prepared dinner and done some other things around the house I lost motivation to go out! Plenty of time to browse!
I have also started checking out E-Bay for baby items so I can get better ideas of prices and what constitutes a bargain online! Sure it will help if I am trawling the local paper for second hand baby gear too.
Prams/strollers are still a complete mystery to me though. I just cannot seem to get my head around what I want/need in a pram. More research will help me make some sense of it all I am sure.
I just really want to start compiling a list of all the things we will need for the baby and that way we can slowly start getting everything together. Even if it means only buying a few little things each week until we are ready to make some major purchases.
I have slept in my mat bra for the past 2 nights and it has definitely helped the comfort factor. However, these bras were not designed to be slept in and are not super comfortable. I have been recommended to look at some sleep bras which are all soft like crop tops which are meant to be much more comfortable to sleep in. Will definitely be purchasing one of these once I find them!

6 Weeks
Wednesday, January 5, 2011
As my title states, we have reached the 6 week mark today!! A little milestone on it's own and brings me closer to our scan and closer to the 12 week mark.
2 weeks 1 day until our scan!
6 weeks until 12 week mark and we can go public!
Not a whole lot to report but figured I couldn't let the 6 week mark go without a post.
My new bras are awesome! So comfortable. I am wondering if I need to wear one of them when sleeping as I was so uncomfortable last night and tossed and turned. My boobs were aching this morning. The restless night hasn't helped with my tiredness either. Think I will try it tonight and see if it helps.
Have been feeling a little bit dizzy/faint the past few days also, but I have read that this is normal for this stage of pregnancy. I am just making sure I don't stand up too fast. I would hate to fall over and hurt myself or little embie.
No real nausea today. Ate breakfast then a snack around morning tea. Big lunch of leftovers from last nights dinner. I am now feeling quite hungry again. Might have to snack on something before dinner. Savoury is still my favourite thing right now.
I will have to try and remember to take a belly shot tonight. Figure I will try and take them weekly from here to see if there are any changes happening. Not sure if I am brave enough to post them though...I am not a skinny minnie and definitely have a little pot belly already which is definitely not pregnancy related!

Bits & Pieces

Made my first maternity wear purchase in the form of 2 maternity bras from K-Mart as recommended by Green Sprout. I am still in my same cup size (DD) but these bras must have a bit more room to move (or grow I suppose) and are so comfortable!!! The bonus was the only cost me $12 each!!! I almost fainted. My usual bras cost me between $60-70 depending if I buy them on sale. I haven't paid $12 for a bra since I first started wearing them! I must admit I was a little wary when I started looking at all the maternity bras and none of them had under wire. To me big boobs + no under wire = major sagging! But I tried them on and was surprised. They do the job of holding them up so I was sold! Makes me feel a lot better knowing I won't have to go to work with my boobs overflowing..not a good look!
I have over done it today and tried to do too much. Woke up, cleaned both bathrooms, stripped the bed, put a load of washing on and hung it out, then headed to the shops for a few hours. By the time I got home I was exhausted. No chance for a nap either as I had a hair dressers appointment at 2pm to lop off all my hair! I am home now and I think a nanna nap is high on my agenda. Must remind myself that I may not be able to do as much as what I used to be able to do..at least for a little while yet.
Savoury food is most definitely my favourite at the moment. I even turned down chocolate today-twice!!! Shock horror!! Today for lunch all I wanted was potato wedges with sweet chilli sauce. I could not think of anything else. And once I had it, it was not as good as I thought it would be. Major disappointment! I am trying to eat small meals/snacks throughout the day but finding this hard as my appetite has shrunk and I am not often feeling very hungry, but I am willing to give anything a try to stop nausea from hitting. Snack of choice at the moment are Le Snacks (3 crackers with french onion cheese spread all in a little pack). I have never liked the taste of these before but now I think they are awesome! I will be interested to see if my tastes continue to change throughout my pregnancy.
My hormones were rampant today. We went down to the shops to trade in our Wii console on one of those X Box Kinect thingys and I had rung the shop to make sure they would accept this trade and that they had a Kinect in stock. So we get down there only to be told there are none in stock. I was so angry!! That was the whole reason I called before we went down there!!! I managed to keep my cool, though I was probably quite curt to the girl as we left. When we walked out of the shop I felt like bursting into tears...wouldn't let myself as I felt so stupid for wanting to cry over a stupid game! Gave myself a few seconds and I was back to super angry and raging to DH about how stupid the girl in the shop was. DH thinks I am a nut job with all my emotions running all over the place. I think he will be glad to go back to work!
I had a call from the IVF clinic today to congratulate us. They have been shut since around the time I had my blood test done (which is why I haven't had a call sooner) and re-opened this morning. I had the chance to have a quick chat with the 2 nurses I dealt with the most throughout my cycle and they were so lovely. They said when they checked over all the BT results that had come in while they were closed and saw mine they all got very excited! Also relieved my worries about having stopped the Crinone at Christmas and said there was no reason for a repeat blood test unless I had been experiencing any spotting.
I also booked my first scan in today!! One of the nurses said I could go next week, but DH would not be home and he really wants to be there for it so I decided to stick with 8 weeks. My appointment is on Thursday 20th January in the afternoon. I will be 8 week 1 day. DH will be home. Hopefully we will see our little embie and hear a heartbeat. So the count down until scan day is on!!! Just over 2 weeks away so I hope time flies!!
I decided this morning that my hair was bugging me and it was time for a cut. It was almost to the middle of my back, so quite long and it is extra thick..like stupidly thick! My hairdresser had a free spot today so in I went. It's now just past my shoulders and has been thinned out. You should have seen the pile of hair on the floor afterwards! Feels so much lighter and I know it will be a lot cooler with all this warm weather we have been having. It's amazing how much better a new haircut can make you feel!

5 Weeks 5 Days.
Getting closer to the 8 week mark and having a scan! Just wish the public holidays would hurry up so I can call my doctor and book in. Feeling very impatient!
Nausea intensified yesterday so possibly a sign of things to come? I woke up yesterday morning feeling sick so ate some breakfast. Nausea subsided for an hour or so and then returned. We ended up going to the beach in the afternoon and the fresh air and sunshine seemed to make me feel better. Even managed to scoff some very yummy chips and calimari.
Savoury foods seem to be going down well and are what I feel like eating more often. DH cracked out some chocolate the other night and after a few squares it was NOT appealing. I am usually a chocoholic so this was a bit of a shock!!!!
I think I am going to have to buy some bigger bras soon. I feel like my boobs are overflowing when I wear my current ones. Not very comfortable! Even when I put my togs on yesterday I felt like there was a little too much boob on show! I think I need to go and get re-fitted so I get the right ones.
Got woken up early by DH this morning as he was going fishing. Feeling pretty tired...might go have a nap!
