There is a saying about beauty being the eye of the beholder... I think that extends beyond beauty. Life is what we make of it. I can give you ten songs that will convince you life is a shit hole and it isn't even worth bothering. But I can also give you ten which are inspiring and empowering. Yet, the latter ten will mean nothing if you don't want it to.
At the end of the day there is a limit to how much control we have over own lives but few of us exhaust every option to achieve what it is that we want. Giving up and allow ourselves to be consumed by the negatives is easy. Taking stock of what we do have is harder and empowering ourselves to change how we want to approach the things that hurt the most is even more challenging. At the end of the day, we only hurt because of the parameters and expectations which we place on ourselves and our lives. Sometimes by looking at the self imposed restrictions and making a few adjustments (painful as that may be) can lead to a far happier outlook on life. That doesn't mean laying down your weapons... just how you use them.
